1. How do you think the choice of typeface can affect the audience reaction to an important piece of information? (on a health warning for example).
It can grab the audience's attention and make the audience engage with the piece of information. on the other hand, typefaces can be hard to read (depends on what typeface you use).
2. When looking at text (this might be in a magazine, on a website), what do you think the effect of having greater space (leading) between the lines of type might be?
Leading can be used in logos, e-books, and blogs. the effect of having greater space between the lines of type is that it's more readable not only for those who have bad sight but also people that are dyslexic.
3. What do you think happens when viewing text if there is too much space between the letters (tracking)? How does it affect the audience (the people reading)?
if there's too much space between the space between the letters then it would be a bit difficult to read. it depends on what the purpose is because if its like for a logo then there might be a message behind it.
4. How can you bring emphasis to certain words/lines in a piece of text to establish a hierarchy?
you can bring emphasis to certain words and lines of a text by changing the font, underline words, use italics, change the scale, use different colours and make spaces between certain words, lines and letters (tracking, kerning and leading)
5. What is the difference between the terms kerning and tracking?
kerning - space between certain letters (any letters)5. What is the difference between the terms kerning and tracking?
tracking - space between the letters of a word (all the letters of a word)
Well done. Good. Steve
